Visit of Fr Augusto Domingos and Paulo Manuel from Martyrs' Parish, Uige, Angola to St Marylebone January 2017
In January 2017, Fr Augusto Domingos and Paulo Manuel visited St Marylebone Parish Church as part of the 900th/200th Anniversary celebrations of St Marylebone. After an 18 month odyssey of trying to secure visas, Fr Augusto and Paulo landed at Heathrow Airport on Tuesday 17th January.

Fr Augusto and Paulo saw many aspects of the daily life of St Marylebone, sharing in worship and visiting the parish church's two schools and the University of Westminster (where St Marylebone provides chaplaincy to students and staff).

During the visit, Fr Augusto preached at the Sunday Choral Eucharist and Paulo joined in the activities of Young Church and Junior Choir. A visit highlight was the Bapstism and Confirmation Eucharist celebrated by The Right Reverend Robert Ladds, SSC, Area Provost of the Woodard Corporation, for girls from The St Marylebone Church of England School. 1000 staff, family members and teachers attended the joyous occasion in St Marylebone Parish Church.

Visits were made to St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, the offices of the Diocesan of London and ALMA.

The vsiit would not have been possible without the kindness and help of John Tasker and Sheenagh Burrell from the London ALMA team.

9/11 SERVICE AT WESTMINSTER ABBEY

   Westminster_Abbey

The principal Awareness Sunday service, representative of many that took place around the globe, was held at the Collegiate Church of St Peter, Westminster Abbey, London.

Candles_and_wreath_website

The Dean, the Very Revd John Hall, presided and again Dr Cowart and Father Nassar spoke to the full abbey. The congregation consisted of many Americans who were greeted by staff members at the end of the service. Music included Amazing Grace and the Russian Kontakion of the Dead.

10 students from St Marylebone Church processed with memorial candles, one for each year, and joined  members of the altar party, including Bishop Michael Marshall, President of the Foundation, through the vast abbey to the shrine of Innocents Victims outside the Great West Door. Bishop Marshall offered the special prayer written for this service.  Dr Cowart laid a wreath as the abbey remained in a silence of respect.
